I've had the opportunity to operate the Cat 305 E2, particularly impressed by its compact radius and stability. The new hydraulic quick attach system is a time-saver as it's fully automatic from the comfort of the cab-no need to pull safety pins. However, I wish they had included foot pedals for auxiliary controls in addition to joystick integration-it might suit diverse preferences better.

I operated the Caterpillar 140H for a few days on-site. It’s got solid power with its 6-cylinder engine and variable horsepower setup, which I found pretty consistent when working through different tasks. The closed cab design with functional AC and heating definitely adds some workplace comfort, especially during hot or cold days. I didn’t notice any leaks or major issues; everything ran as expected. The only thing I’d note is the exterior paint, which showed wear, but that doesn’t affect functionality.

Had the opportunity to use the Cat 140G recently. It's pretty good on uneven terrains and handles gravel roads effortlessly. The cabin setup is operator-friendly. However, I found the initial adjustment period took me a while to get entirely comfortable with its settings. That said, it's a dependable choice for extended operations.

I’ve driven the Caterpillar 424 for a couple of projects recently. The operational performance is solid, with great hydraulic flow rate making tasks quicker. However, sourcing parts can be cumbersome in certain regions, which might lead to downtime that isn’t ideal. The machine itself handles well, and the comfort during prolonged usage is commendable.

Been running dozers for 25 years. The D8's power is legit - CAT C15 with 354 hp and they're claiming 10% better fuel economy than the prior model. That fuel drop actually matters on big pushes. The CAT Grade 3D and remote CAT Command are the real deal for cutting time; I've seen machines finish a cut way faster with guidance than by eyeballing it. Semi-autonomous blade assist sounds useful - machine learns terrain and adjusts blade angle/pressure - but I'm cautious. New tech can save hours, or it can need babysitting till you figure its limits. Cab is nicer: better suspension, 15% more visibility and less noise. Telematics tracking maintenance, fuel burn and idle time should take the guesswork out of service scheduling. Biggest gripe is availability - limited initial release means dealers will mark these up and you'll wait. I like it, but I'd want one in my yard and some solid dealer support before I swap out my current dozer.

I've been running the Caterpillar 966 GC for a few months on our site. Its flexibility in handling various attachments is a big plus, making it a versatile choice. The visibility from the cab aids in safety and maneuvering in tight spots. That said, routine maintenance can occasionally feel a bit cumbersome. Still, it's a solid loader.

So I spent a couple of weeks using the Cat 330. It handles fairly well in both construction and quarry tasks. The power mode is robust, providing full capability during intensive operations. The cab instruments are easy to read, and the touch screen is straightforward once familiarized. What exceeded my expectations was the extended service intervals; this reduces downtime significantly. However, adjusting to the lack of hydraulic pilot controls was a challenge at first. Still, it's a dependable machine worth considering for projects requiring consistent output.

Used a Cat 950G for a majority of a project, and it truly shows its capability. The hydraulic system delivers solid power for most operations. Although, the slightly aged components hinted at a necessity for routine checks to ensure optimal performance. The A/C system is effective, which came in handy during warmer days.

Recently operated a 315F on a site with tight spaces. Its compact design worked well for the task. The machine is fast and fluid, handling most tasks with ease. The cab provides a good amount of comfort for long hours. However, the bucket design could be improved to minimize material buildup. Overall, a capable excavator for its class.

Hopped into a next gen 320 recently-first thing I noticed was no key, just a code and button to start. Spare parts tucked behind the cab, good storage. Space in the cab is alright, I fit just fine and the controls are what you'd expect. Did notice the engine’s pretty small though, might question power if you’re handling big stuff all day. All those new lines and sensors are making things complicated, guess that’s where machines are going now. At least it's brand new so maintenance hasn’t been an issue for me yet. Not sure I love all the gadgets but the basics work. Not a bad ride, has its quirks.
