I run convoys and have sat in the cab of a few Tatras. The interior is basic but functional. Armor options and NBC filters are real pluses for crew safety, and it seats up to eight depending on layout. Climate options exist - AC and independent heating - so long missions are tolerable, but don’t expect luxury. Engines come air-cooled or from Cummins/Cat. Air-cooled units are simpler to work on in the field, fewer cooling-system headaches, but parts for unique Tatra components can be a pain to source outside Europe. That means maintenance costs and downtime can vary a lot. Fuel range is decent with the 420 L tank, about 750 km, so you don’t have to refuel every day. Driving aids are there (auto box, ABS) so you get control help, but servicing logistics are the weak spot if you’re far from support.

I've driven the Tatra T815 in some challenging terrain, and I must say, its off-road capabilities are impressive. The backbone tube chassis design provides unparalleled durability in rugged conditions. The air-cooled V12 engine option I had was very reliable. However, the operational range could feel a bit limiting on extended missions. Overall, it's a solid truck for its intended applications.
