We rented the Liebherr LTM 1055 crane from the German manufacturer Liebherr. We chose this model because the crane itself is compact and mobile. It operates on a 360-degree radius, making it more convenient to use than a crane with a working range limited to 240 degrees. The installation process is simplified thanks to the presence of a computerized crane control system. If you are working on a construction site within a city, then the LTM 1055 is the most successful choice. However, not everyone can afford to buy such equipment because it is expensive. It is more profitable to rent it.

Been running this crane since ‘97, so seen it through its ages. Never had much trouble with the hydraulics - cylinders and locks been tight, never had to chase leaks. Did have to tear into the engine for a full rebuild not that long ago, but that’s kinda expected when it’s pushing this long. Controls are familiar, nothing confusing. Visibility is pretty average, gets rough with the small cab windows in crappy weather. You get used to it though. Moving counterweights isn’t hard, the system makes it a quick job, but storing all the extra hook blocks on board takes up about all the space left. All in all, holds together and keeps working. Bit old-fashioned, but gets the job done.

I saw the LTM 1450 mobile crane at a construction equipment exhibition that I visited for work in 2017. This year, I had the opportunity to test this model myself. The machine has a lifting capacity of 450 tons. The length of the telescopic boom is 85 meters. The boom retraction mechanism is absent. I heard that the engineers deliberately abandoned this element in order to speed up the crane installation process. Purchasing this machine is too expensive. If you need a mobile crane to perform a large volume of work in a short period of time, renting it could be considered as an option.

I purchased the Liebherr LTM 1040 mobile crane 4 months ago in a good condition, considering its 1994 year of manufacturing. The crane has a powerful engine that operates smoothly. All the machine's axes are rotatable, and according to the manufacturer, the travel speed can reach 57 km/h (although our maximum was 40 km/h). Soon, we will need to replace the tires as they have worn out significantly.

The Liebherr LTM 1120 mobile crane was used for two years. The special equipment handled the assigned tasks well and proved to be sufficiently mobile. The onboard computer operated flawlessly without any glitches. However, there was a need to reset the boom extension sensor on the crane once. I had to seek assistance from a service engineer for this matter. Although the service was expensive, the maintenance of Liebherr equipment is not cheap.

Been using the LTM 1030/2.1 for a couple years now, mostly on construction sites around the city. Real talk, it's pretty easy to get used to-controls are straightforward, no fumbling around. I like jumping in after someone else and not feeling like I have to study for an hour just to move a load. The cabin is cozy enough, good view from behind the glass and I don't walk away with a sore back after a long shift. Only gripe is you gotta stay on top of the hydraulic checks. Saw a bit of a leak last summer, not a showstopper but something to watch for. Overall, it gets jobs done and doesn't feel like it's working against you.
