I purchased a JCB 8030 mini-excavator in Poland. The previous owner had put in over 2300 hours of work on this machine. I bought the tractor for all-season use. When I operated the excavator in freezing temperatures, a problem immediately arose – air was getting into the hydraulic system. As a result, an unpleasant squeaking sound emerged, and the power was reduced. Prior to this, I had replaced the filter and filled it with high-quality oil. During operation, I relied on the services of a service center. The repair cost me a significant amount.

Been using the U17 for a few projects, and it's compact yet efficient. It handles digging jobs in restricted environments well, thanks to its customizable track width. That said, longer sessions can feel a bit constrained for taller drivers, and the lack of a dozer blade float feature requires manual adjustment. Overall, it serves its purpose neatly.

As a professional operator, I spent multiple weeks using the JCB 4CX for various tasks on-site. The machine proved efficient in grading and earthmoving, thanks to its 6-in-1 shovel and ergonomic controls. However, adaption for trench work seemed slightly less intuitive but manageable. Overall, a reliable construction machine.

I used the JCB 3CX during a project for trench digging. It performed well under the site's tight conditions. The joystick controls responded smoothly, aiding precise operation. The cabin was fairly comfortable for prolonged use, though the seat adjustment options felt a bit limited. Overall, a reliable performer with minor factors requiring enhancement.

Had a chance to operate the 428F on a training project. The machine offers solid power delivery and the responsiveness of the controls impressed me. The telescopic capabilities allowed for greater operational scope, although I found adjusting to the joystick setup a bit tricky initially. Maintenance access points are well thought out, which is practical for daily checks.

I recently operated the Caterpillar 424 Backhoe Loader. Let me share some thoughts with you. The enhanced fuel efficiency was noticeable during extended hours of use, which is quite beneficial for long projects. The cab redesign incorporates excellent visibility and improved comfort. However, I found the operator interface slightly less intuitive than expected, requiring some time to fully familiarize.

I've been running a 312D for a couple years on all kinds of ground. Straight away, the controls are smooth, feels natural to feather the boom or bucket for tricky work. Visibility is pretty good but I did wish the side panels were a bit less chunky sometimes, especially when working close to walls. Cab’s comfy enough, I’ll give it that - not cramped, and those simple, chunky controls suit me. Only thing, noticed the hydraulic hoses can get leaky after heavy use and it’s not always quick to spot. Checks take a bit more time than ideal. Price-wise, wasn’t the cheapest but feels fair for a Cat. Not the best fuel use out there but not bad. Overall, a solid, straightforward digger if you stay on top of maintenance.

Excavator Caterpillar 304

I used the Caterpillar 304 recently and here are my impressions. The compact size is convenient for working on tighter residential properties while still offering solid digging capability. It feels stable even on uneven ground. The controls took a bit of getting used to, but once by hand, I could work quite efficiently. As for maintenance, swapping buckets manually can be cumbersome, so investing in a hydraulic quick attach system seems wise. Overall, it serves well within its intended range but lacks certain features without upgrades.
